do nothing

we sit here
    manifest
in out not so destined
destiny
trees barren
birds silent
pigs in charge
 and humans - people - us
cowering in the corners
quiet
in our shells
outraged at our own
indifference
and yet
paralyzed that we
should
     do
              nothing
